Good News about SHIP Funding
The legislature recently confirmed the third cycle of SHIP funding will be $35 million for the next biennium – up from $15 million from the second cycle of funding! This third cycle of SHIP funding (SHIP 3) is a wonderful opportunity to help your district improve the nutrition of meals your students eat and receive money from the state of Minnesota to help you do it.
In preparation for the release of these new funds, the Chef Marshall O’Brien Team designed the set of tools needed to help you secure funds for your district. This includes a plan written in accordance with SHIP requirements, program leadership and facilitation, and management of the paperwork and forms required by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Community Health Board during the program.
We infuse metrics into the decision-making and educational process and ensure metrics are used for goal setting and measuring success of the desired outcome. Through metrics, we can prove to the MDH and the Minnesota legislature that their money is being well spent, and, it improves your opportunity to get additional funds from SHIP 4 in two years.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) for SHIP 3 funds will be issued in June. Deadlines for applications are targeting August.
