Fresh & Frozen Staple Food List

For the Refrigerator
Fresh herbs – basil, parsley, thyme
Lemons & limes (these can also sit out on the counter)
Greek style Yogurt (preferably homemade, recipe to follow)
Lean protein of choice – wild caught fish, pasture raised chicken
Whole grain (I like sprouted wheat) tortilllas
Greens that can be cooked – collard, spinach, kale, mustard, turnip greens
Salad greens – Romaine, spinach, kale, carrot tops work too!
Fresh fruit – depends on season usually – apples, pears, nectarines (these can also sit out on the counter)
Other fresh vegetables – seasonal, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, romanesco,
Whole Carrots
Almond butter
Ground flax seed
Rice milk
Kalamata, or something similar to, olives
Home made pickled vegetables (green tomatoes, spicy peppers, carrots, cabbage, recipe to follow)
Dijon or whole grain mustard, great for using in marinades, dressings or meat/fish rubs

 

For the Freezer
Spinach
Edemame
Other vegetables
Meats of choice – can be frozen 3-4 months – (fish needs to be wrapped tightly)
Walnuts
Almonds
Blueberries
Strawbarries
Raspberries
