Chef Marshall and his team have been working with the Harold Mezile North Community YMCA, which is an exclusively teen and youth center in North Minneapolis, for over four years. After years spent imagining how great it would be to have a teaching kitchen to support the North Minneapolis community, this year they have one–thanks to the generosity of the Cargill Foundation. With the vision of the North Y’s leadership, branch director Taronda Richardson, and Chef Marshall’s help, kids are learning about Smart Nutrition and cooking. The goal is simple: teach young people how nourishing is different than eating. Eating keeps you alive, but nourishing goes beyond that: it helps you perform, look and feel your best.
